Small Update

hey guys,

we just wanted to give you all a little update. was going through some old emails from critics/fans/rivals etc, and just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has made this worth doing for. we have been a blogspot for about 5 years now to post CAPs, roster edits, goalie equipment, etc for you guys who might not be online or just want accurate rosters. one thing i wanted to point out is that over those 5 years we have made exactly $14 from the surrounding ads on our page. we obviously don't do it for the money, but for you the fans.

right now we're a little slow getting off to a whomping start because of a couple of reasons:

1) EA's "rosters" - these rosters are a mess. maybe some of the worst that we have seen. last year we spent about this much time working on guides and such, and the rosters weren't nearly as bad.
2) the lockout - without training camps opening up, its putting some strain on us because of the way we scout.

we want to have the most accurate rosters for you guys, but please bear with us while we try to get caught up to speed. right now it's only PetrPuck working on the guides (as it is most years) as skrody has been pretty busy outside of the NHL world. he is wrapping up his second film and is in the post production process for it, and that is eating up most of his gaming hours when he isn't doing the day job.

this isn't an omission or an excuse or anything like that. but we just wanted to say thanks to those who have supported us, and are continuing to be patient while we try to get everything caught up to speed for you!

Thanks for all the hard work! However, I think it's unfair to lay all of the blame on EA - so much of their problem is all the legal stuff they have to go through to get to player rights.

Other stuff is inexcusable, such as the likes of Jason Blake, Kurtis Foster, and Erik Christensen still being on teams.

I look forward to your CAPs once you get to them... as EAs rosters will likely remain a mess until the lockout ends.

we get and fully understand the licensing agreement EA has with the players, that's not the issue.

it's the movements that need to be made, especially in the european leagues.

Also, if anyone's noticed. Dumping a player to free agency isn't as simple as pushing a button. He may be in free agency, but he still belongs to the NHL team he was dumped from. I had to move them to an AHL team to clear the team rights, and then dump them into free agency from there. It was like this last year too.

Thanks for all your hard work, I've been using your guides since I bought NHL 10. I end up using the EA updates and then use your Roster Guides to finalize them (as the official updates still have a strange habit of mysterious FAs appearing that haven't even played in years, and little to no effort put into non NHL/AHL roster moves) What I enjoy most is the Goalie Equipment Edits. Though it may be hard to find a lot of the new gear if they don't start playing games...

at least we'll try to have the AHL/Euro guys up to date with goalie equipment edits :)
